Photography

Digital image-making is exciting and immediate. While I have worked with most of the old-school film/camera formats, today, I—like practically everybody on the planet—make images via lighted screens.

Making smartphone pictures is personally very satisfying—I teach a class of my own devising called Creative Smartphone Photography—but I'm also thoroughly conversant with DSLR technology and processing RAW files for print and Web, using Adobe software.

This photo gallery is loosely organized according to its subject matter. Click the magnolia to get started.

Edits

Bringing written material to publication satisfies my analytical side. Taking ideas and images to print (or Web) is all about what I call workflow yang.

Whether developing book-length illustrated manuscripts or editing poetry broadsides, tightening advertising copy or writing tag lines and captions, I love the relay-race challenge of keeping a publishing project's schedule flowing from concept to copy to art and beyond

These books, edited or managed by me, are grouped by genres like ceramics, knitting, or jewelry. Click any book cover to see its Amazon.com customer review page. (If you own the book, please leave a review there!
